About Priscilla

So Who Am I?

     Good question! My name is Priscilla Glenn and to put it simply, I'm a Texas gal who loves to read, write, and prove the world wrong. I started writing The Awakening series in second grade with a ten page draft about some kids going off on an adventure. Crazy to think how far this story has come. It has evolved from a childhood idea to a full-fleshed story where the characters have come to life and seem to be writing their own world. I truly hope you all come to love these characters as I have.
     But you'll have plenty of time to get to know my characters as you read the books so back to the purpose of this page. What else is there to know?
     I love reading the classics. There's something about the way they are written that modern literature seems to have lost. My favorite book of all time...has to be The Count of Monte Cristo. I love the detail, the plotting, the emotion, and I hope to bring some of that into my own story.
     Now I may not be your typical author. I don't have an English or Literature degree. Instead, I am currently a four-year graduate student at the University of California at Davis for a PhD in Horticulture.
     Yes, I just wrote Horticulture. I am currently studying yield potential and discovering novel genes that increase the numbers of spikelets per spike. Sound boring? Not to me! After earning my PhD I plan to enter the plant breeding industry and do my part to help feed the world.
     You also need to know that I love my family and friends. I wouldn't be who I was without them! They have supported me through everything, the good... and the ugly. And I make weekly phone calls to catch up my three siblings and write letters to my friends back in TX to stay in touch (Yes, it's old fashion but it's so much fun!). Lastly, my faith in God as a Roman Catholic defines me. It allows me to be true to myself and stay strong in my purpose. Without it, I would've been lost a long time ago. And who knows, then you guys may not have ever gotten to read this!
